Isolation - A Poem by N. Daniel

Waking on the floor alone

beneath the carpet, hard as stone

my even breath in monotone

each joint a grinding, bone to bone

Beyond the boxes strewn about

a single window, shrouded doubt

betwixt the breach light trickles out

draw back the darkness with a pout

Streets below the windowsill

are barren metros standing still

their silence a peculiar skill

affliction in the morning chill

Confined, restrained and without you

the home we make is split in two

isolation is nothing new

to broken hearts that remain true

PK and I were half moved in together March, 24. Due to COVID-19 I was required to isolate in the city while she remained in the suburbs, waiting for me to join her.
